Aakash Chopra, the former Indian cricketer, does not think that MS Dhoni’s participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) can be helpful for his comeback in international cricket.
MS Dhoni played his last international game in 2019 in ICC World Cup’s semifinal against New Zealand. Since then, he has not been seen on the grounds however, he was spotted doing net practices for the cash-rich league, IPL.
His retirement has been the topic for the last few months. A few cricketing figures want him to retire earlier whereas a few want him to step into his boots once again and go to the grounds for serving his nation.
MS Dhoni is the skipper who has earned the title of a skipper who has won all ICC trophies. He still has got the potential and his fitness level is what makes him perfect wicket-keeping batsman for the next some years.
Players like Aakash Chopra thinks that if Dhoni has not played cricket for more than nine months and amid lockdown, he is still vacant, so he will lose his form if IPL doesn’t happen and will not be suitable to the team after eighteen months.
“See, if the team wants him to play, all that will happen. But if the IPL doesn’t take place this year, the T20 World Cup doesn’t happen this year, (then), of course, he will be a year older; and with him out of the cricket for more than 18 months, you can assume that you might not see him play again for India”, the former Indian opener said.
