IPL 2020 and ICC T20 World Cup 2020 could have a clash among each other for taking place as both of them have been affected equally amid the Coronavirus outbreak. IPL 2020 was rescheduled for a new window of April-May but an extension in the lockdown in India has dragged it ahead to an unknown window.

ICC T20 World Cup was all set to be kicked off by 18th October but the health crisis on a global scale could affect its schedule as well. Reports say that IPL 2020 moving ahead to another latest window will affect ICC T20 World Cup as well as it is scheduled for October.

Indian Cricket Authorities also want IPL to take place before the initiations of ICC T20 World Cup 2020 so it can serve as a platform for practice for many players. So many hurdles and impossibilities amid lockdown all over the world are to effect both mega-events and is to cause troubles in their scheduling.

Australia as a venue was chosen as a venue to host ICC T20 World Cup 2020 but the severe health crisis has caused the Australian government to restrict foreigner’s entry at airports. Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian cricketer has suggested that if International Cricket Council (ICC) takes a look, Australia is under the sever lockdown and when the situation flatters, they can use India to host both events; IPL 2020 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2020.

“At the moment, as we all know, Australia has barred foreigners from entering the country until the 30th of September. The tournament is starting from mid-October or the 3rd week of October, so it’s looking a bit difficult at the moment. If it can be done… next year’s T20 World Cup is in India,”

“If it can be done where India and Australia come to an agreement… In case the curve in India flattens out and India and Australia swap, so the T20 World Cup is in India in October-November this year and Australia in October-November next year, then it can happen,”

“If it is going to happen that way, then maybe what can happen is the IPL can be held just prior to the T20 World Cup so that it’s enough practice for the players to have T20 World Cup,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
