Match-fixing in LPL 2020 alerts to ICC
Before the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2020) kicked off, the related bodies received the fixing report as the players were offered the bribe for match-fixing. The attempts were made to fix the LPL matches as the controversy erupted.
The Anti-corruption Unit (ACU) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) is currently investigating the complaint to find out the involved members. According to some reports, a former international player approached LPL’s player to fix the matches to favor the match in his team’s favor but failed as got reported.
“The former national player who allegedly made the approach is currently overseas,” the mass-circulating newspaper Lankadeepa said.

Notably, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) and the ICC have denied making further comments on the scenario and are keeping the matter internal as of now.
Finally, SLC is holding the first edition of LPL 2020 that got commenced on 26th November after facing many delays due to the Coronavovirus outbreak. The first game took place between the Kandy Tuskers and the Colombo Kings. The rest of the schedule is drawn below:
