The thirteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has successfully completed its four matches and is to witness the fifth match on 23rd September (today). Where all the teams are taking part in the matches, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are the only side remaining to play their inaugural match.

Notably, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have got featured in the IPL 2020 matches twice that has made them the only franchise to play two matches till yet. Overall, Sam Curran and Faf Du Plessis, who are the most wicket-taker and most run-scorers respectively, are not wearing their Purple caps and orange caps yet. Do you wonder why?

Here is why Faf Du Plessis and Sam Curran are not wearing Orange caps and Purple Caps yet

According to one of the rules of the IPL, the orange cap is worn by the leading wicket-taker whereas, the purple cap is worn by the leading run-scorer. Du Plessis (130 runs), and Curran (4 wickets) in two matches have still not got their caps because IPL’s rule said that,

“A player can only start wearing his cap when all of the franchises have played at least one game.”

The reason for such a policy is that, till the time, when players of all the teams will not be the participants of IPL matches, any such destiny to grant caps cannot be decided.

KKR, which are all set to play their first match against Mumbai Indians (MI), might produce some better players than Du Plessis and Curran who can be deserving of the caps more than these two.
