Basit Ali says to hang him if after one could prove match-fixing against him
The former Pakistani cricketer, Basit Ali, has denied all the allegations against him accused by the former CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for match-fixing. Basit says that if anyone can prove the fixing against me, I am ready to be hanged to death.
Basit Ali before bidding farewell to Pakistan Cricket did not get much chance to prove his worth. He played 50 ODIs and 19 test matches and concluded a sum of 2000 runs across all forms of the cricket. Then, he also had the record of fastest ODI ton against West Indies on just 67 balls.
As revealed in a video message by Arif Ali Abbasi, Basit was equally involved in match-fixing on Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka in 1994 and he did it in front of Intekhab Alam. However, the former cricketer has denied the charges and sought to prove if any exists.
Basit Ali, in his clarification, justified that the management called him to calm him up as he was not having his part in any scandal but got his name in the report and media exaggerated.
“I got a phone call from Intikhab Alam and he told me that he has nothing to do with what’s being associated with him in the media. However, whether it’s Arif Abbasi or someone else, if anyone can prove match-fixing against me in any court of the world, I should be hanged,” said Basit.
Earlier, in a revealing video, Arif claimed that Basit accepted his involvement in the match-fixing in 1994 against Sri Lanka. However, Basit has denied the charges against him now and has told them if they prove, they can hang him to death.
