Justin Langer: Want to beat India to prove ourselves

Justin Langer became the head coach of Australia Cricket Team after their former coach was involved in a ball tampering scandal in South Africa. The team went through hard times as David Warner and Steve Smith were handed over bans for 12 months.

It took time for Australia to settle themselves and once when they settled, they performed really well. Steve Smith, no doubt, took his team to heights in ICC Test Championship recently. The team under Justin Langer is doing so well. However, the coach has an ultimate goal to beat the best to prove their worth.

Recently, ICC announced latest team rankings of all the formats. Australia are now the table toppers in Test rankings and T20I rankings. ICC analysed teams performances since 2017 May. India swiped down with 114 points and Aussies headed over them. Earlier, Justin Langer called their series vs India a wakeup call and now after being pretty happy on their first spots, he wants the team to trash India in ICC Test Championship.

“Certainly a goal for us has been the World Test Championship … but ultimately, we have to beat India in India and we’ve got to beat them when they come back (to Australia).

“You can only judge yourself as being the best if you beat the best and we’ve got some really tough opposition to come,” Langer told Cricket.com.au.

It is to be noted that all the cricket scenarios across the globe has either been called off or postponed due to Coronavirus outbreak. Justin will be able to implement his strategic plans against India once after everything settles and game will once again begin.
