Pakistan announce their 35-member squad for the New Zealand tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the thirty-five member panel for the New Zealand tour as the Shaheens are to voyage New Zealand for a three-match Test and a two-match T20I series.

There have been several changes spotted as Asad Shafiq, the senior test player has been dropped on behalf of his mismanaging in scoring runs from the past few innings. Also, Fawad Alam, who came back after a decade, has retained his position.

On the other hand, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Amir are not the parts of the 35-member squad. Revealing the reason, Misbah ul Haq said that the board’s focus is to judge the young talent. He added that Mohammad Hafeez and Wahab Riaz have been chosen on behalf of their captaincy.

“Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Amir are not part of the white-ball matches as for this tour we have opted to invest, develop and focus on the promising and emerging players who are likely to be available to Pakistan for all formats. We have kept faith in Mohammad Hafeez and Wahab Riaz purely on the basis of their outstanding and consistent performances as well as the value they bring to the T20I squad,” he said in a press conference.
