As Delhi Capitals (DC) have lost their last encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), it seems like it is a bounce-back for them as they have not been much impressive this season. It was a much-needed encounter for the Men in Purple to make their way to the playoffs by the end. It was also highly noticed that the opener Prithivi Shaw was absent from the game as Ricky Ponting, the head coach of the team, replaced him with Ajinkya Rahane,
It was noticed that the batsman was out of form despite the fact that he scored two half-centuries initially. Later, he lost the grip with two ducks in three innings. Ponting’s decision has been lauded by Virender Sehwag as he believes Prithvi should be on the break despite adding that the KKR’s coach will be backing the out of form opener always.
“Ricky Ponting will continue to back Prithvi Shaw, but he has been in poor form in the past few games, and hence he has been given a break because of the form. Sometimes, a batsman develops a mindset that no matter what I am doing, it is not working in my favor. So, at the time, you either take a break yourself, or someone gives you a break, it works best for everyone,” he said on Cricbuzz.

Sehwag also added his story and stated that he was asked by Ganguly and Dravid to keep playing despite his miserable form.
“I share my own story when back in 2006, I was not able to score any runs. But still, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly kept me in the playing XI. I kept telling them that I am not being able to perform, I am not being able to score runs. So, give me a break. Instead of giving me a break, in one series, I was made the captain,” concluded ace opener.
