LPL 2020: A huge blow to Galle Gladiators, players start pulling themselves out

One of the franchises of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2020), Galle Gladiators is facing a huge blow as two of their major players have refrained from the squad.

Earlier, Sarfaraz Ahmed, the former Pakistani captain, pulled himself out despite the fact that he was all set to captain the team in the inaugural edition. As of now, Lasith Malinga, the national icon player of Gladiators, is no more part of the team.

Malinga pulled himself out as he believes that an inadequate amount of time is not enough to be in form and to practice well before stepping in the ground for such a big tournament. The bowler was last seen playing against West Indies at the beginning of 2020.

Reasonably, Sarfaraz’s commitments to be with the National Team for the New Zealand tour have limited him to the national country or else he was all set to fly Sri Lanka.

However, all the teams have reached with their squads at Sri Lanka but Galle Gladiators are on the way and will soon be at the chosen venue for LPL 2020.

On the other hand, Kandy Tuskers’s Chris Gayle and Liam Plunkett have also pulled out but the reasons have not been specified.

The league is all set to be commenced by 26th November and will be ended by 16th November that is to be played at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota.

The five teams, Jaffna Stallions, Kandy Tuskers, Galle Gladiators, Colombo Kings, and Dambulla Lions will be in action soon with top-notched umpires and international players giving a fair rating to the league in its first edition.
