Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener, Shane Watson has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The former Australian all-rounder revealed the big news after CSK played their last encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

Notably, CSK did not gave him place in the last clash and he was last seen playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 29th October.

The player was an important asset in the IPL 2018 and let the side to win the finals but has not done anything impressive this season. Featuring in 11 matches, Watson has 299 runs to his name at an average of 29.90. His score includes only two fifties so far.

The veteran could not bid farewell to cricket from the field as he was eliminated from the last match’s playing XI. Moreover, he will be no more part of the cash-rich league.

According to the reports, the management was unaware that he is about to say goodbye to the game until he told his fellows about his retirement.

“Watson was very emotional when he told the CSK dressing room after the last game that he would retire. He said that it was a great privilege for him to play for the franchise,” the source was quoted as saying by TOI.

Concluding, he has an outstanding IPL career representing Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the CSK. He has smashed 3874 runs in a total of 145 matches at an average of 30.99 with four tons and twenty-one half tons along with 92 wickets in IPL.
