The thirteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is operating in a plentiful fledge and many of its certainties and uncertainties are noted by cricket devotees. One of the most prominent shocks that IPL fans have observed is the terrible form of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Despite the fact that they are three times IPL winner, the awful performance by the skipper MS Dhoni has made the franchise struggle. They are yet to finalize their perfect playing XI as the order keeps on rotating. There are multiple factors that are hitting the side badly as Dhoni’s batting at the lowest-order is criticized. It would not have been subjected to criticism if he would not have scored a total of 102 runs in his 5 innings of the ongoing season.

Another thing that has been terrorizing for them is Kedar Jadhav’s offensive performance. In short, it can be stated that he costed the last game to the team. Also, he was not supported to bowl in CSK’s last game as before that, he had affirmed a high economy of 9.55 and striking only three wickets in five matches.

Does MS Dhoni need to look at other players for the finisher’s role?

Brian Lara, after analyzing the situation, has said that it is time for MS Dhoni to hand over his position to any other player who can utilize it well. He further added that Captain Cool can bat freely at the top-order.

“It’s a bit puzzling (Dhoni inability to finish). You feel that he has created that position where he can be flexible with himself but I think he needs to maybe look at some other players,” Brian Lara told Star Sports.

Consequently, Brian Lara believes that things are wrong for CSK. He said Dhoni should try Kedar Jadhav at the finisher instead of himself as he has not worked yet. Although he replaced his position to number four in the last encounter against the KKR but could not develop what was needed as he fell for 11 off 12.

“He (Dhoni) is a great finisher, no doubt about that. But things are not going right for him and I believe, some of the other players, look at Jadeja how he batted today, he came in when their chances were very slim. So, something he will have to work on, have steadier stuff,” he further added.
