Kapil Dev, the former Indian fast-bowler and the hard hitter from the middle-over, earlier took dig at Shoaib Akhtar saying that the Board of Control of Cricket in India already has enough money and they don’t want to organize a series to make more money.
“He is entitled to his opinion, but we don’t need to raise the money. For us, what is important right now is how our authorities work together to deal with this crisis,” he said.
“The pressing issue is to look after the poor, the hospital workers, the police, and all other people who are on the frontline of this war.”
“The BCCI has donated a hefty amount ($6.7 million) for the cause and is in a position to give much more if the need arises. It doesn’t need to raise funds.
“And how much money can you make from three games? In my view, you can’t even think of cricket for the next five to six months,” said Kapil Dev.
Recently, he once again has dragged the topic and said that their first priority is the re-opening of educational institutes. If Pakistani wants money, then they shall stop their activities at the border.
“I am looking at the larger picture. Do you think cricket is the only issue we can talk about? I am rather worried about the children who are not being able to go to schools and colleges because that is our young generation. So, I want schools to reopen first. Cricket, football will happen eventually,” Kapil was quoted as saying in DNA.
“You could be emotional and say that yes, India and Pakistan should play matches. Playing matches is not a priority at the moment. If you need the money then you should stop the activities at the border,” the veteran added.
“If we really need money then we have so many religious organizations, they should come forward. It is their responsibility. We offer so much when we visit the religious shrines, so they should help the government,” he added.
Earlier, Shoaib Akhtar presented an idea of Indo-Pak bilateral series to raise Coronavirus funds over which he received the height of criticism. However, the idea was supported by many of Shoaib’s fellow, not to raise Coronavirus funds, but in order to reduce the friction of hatred among both the nations.
