Ishant Sharma of the Delhi Capitals (DC) has been ruled out for the entire edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). The bowler faced a left internal muscle tear after the subsequent investigations have revealed.
He has got featured in a single game for the Capitals yet out of seven along with Avesh Khan and Harshal Patel getting their places. Notably, DC are comfortably gripping the second position on the IPL 2020 points table winning five out of seven matches.
Ishant Sharma ruled out of IPL 2020
The franchise confirming the news on Monday said that,
“Ishant Sharma experienced an acute episode of left rib cage pain while bowling at a team training session on 7 October 2020 in Dubai. Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a left internal oblique muscle tear.”
DC have suffered many withdrawals in the ongoing season of the cash-rich T20 league. The leggie, Amit Mishra, who sustained a tendon injury, was ruled out of the entire edition. The player was initially removed from the playing XI but was brought back as Ravichandran Ashwin suffered an injury. After the off-spinner was able to get featured in the game, DC decided to retain Mishra in place of Axar Patel who is doing a splendid job in IPL 2020.
Later, Chris Woakes and Jason Roy, who initially were parts of the side, withdrew themselves and were replaced by Anrich Nortje and Daniel Sams in order.
Also, Rishabh Pant, the wicket-keeping batsman sustained an injury in DC’s last encounter against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). As a result, he was dropped as Alex Carey was chosen as the replacement.
