Carl Eddings, the newly appointed chairman of the Cricket Australia (CA), has opined that it is going to be very much difficult to commence the T20 World Cup 2020.
He also mentioned that it is not clear yet whether the tournament is postponed or called off for this year as an official announcement is still to be made. According to him, it would be tough to manage sixteen teams at a time as many countries are still suffering Coronavirus pandemic although Australia has been free of it.

“While it hasn’t been formally called off this year, or postponed, trying to get 16 countries into Australia in the current world, where most countries are still going through COVID spiking, I think it’s unrealistic, or it’s going to be very, very difficult,” Carl Eddings, the CA chairman, was quoted as saying in Times Now.
During the lockdown, no cricket activities are being commenced on. Whether the leagues, tournaments, tours, or the series, all the scenarios have badly been interrupted. ICC T20 World Cup 2020 is going to be one of the mega-events to get disturbed.
According to the existing schedule, the World Cup is likely to be commenced by 18th October. However, the meeting held on 28th May was to decide the fate of the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 but the major cricketing body has delayed the decision and has organized another meeting to be held on 10th June. The fate will be decided in another meeting, however, opined, the mega-event is most likely to get canceled because the situation doesn’t look to be in favor as the number of cases caused by the Coronavirus is rising day by day.
