The SLC had emailed the BCCI in July to resume the targeted tour in a response to which, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has agreed to visit Sri Lanka for a three-match T20 series and a three-match ODI series.
Recently, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) requested the Board of Control for India (BCCI) to resume the bilateral series in the island nation in July.
The outbreak of the coronavirus has stopped all cricket scenes around the world. Cricket in India has been equally affected. However, Arun Dhumal said that it would depend on the principles and policies of the government otherwise the team is ready for the tour and still the safety of the players will be considered first.
The Man in Blue was scheduled to visit Sri Lanka in July for a three-match ODI series and as many T20 series, but that condition is not conducive to managing the spread of the coronavirus.
BCCI agrees on Sri Lanka’s proposal for bilateral series
The SLC has expressed its desire to keep the visit of spectators eliminated and to resume the series behind closed doors to avoid any hassle and flow during the global health crisis.
Considering the safety of fans and players, Sri Lanka is planning to organize the series behind closed doors so that no one is affected. The SLC says the health of the players is paramount to their board. However, matches remain to be affected and matches are unlikely to move forward amid the spread of the coronavirus.
BCCI all set to tour Sri Lanka for six-match series if health crisis settles
“It all depends on government directives pertaining to lockdown relaxations and travel restrictions. We are open to travel if it doesn’t compromise the safety and health of our boys,” Dhumal wrote, as per the report in Hindustan Times.
