It is surprising to see that the Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) is still missing on Kane Williamson despite his batting consistency. The player even captained the side in 2018 and 2019 consecutively but the role has been swiped to David Warner. Williamson, who won IPL 2018 season, has smashed 735 runs in 17 matches that is enough to give a big blow to any opponent. Still not selecting him is a query in many minds.
It is crystal clear that Johnny Bairstow and David Warner add a clinching partnership which might be the reason for Williamson to have refrained. Warner also finished the IPL 2019 as the leading run-scorer with 692 runs in 12 matches whereas, Bairstow smashed 445 runs in 10 matches to get SRH in the playoffs.
On the other hand, the departure of Mitchell Marsh has been another extravagant blow to the Orange Caps as he holds all-rounding abilities. In his place, Holder has been called who is likely to play today and because of his dual role, he might have been preferred over Williamson. Also, Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan, who can go well with the bat and can pick wickets too, has been preferred over the Kiwi batsman for a similar reason.
Here is why Kane Williamson is not getting a chance in SRH
However, Warner’s men are yet to win their inaugural match as they have lost all two played in IPL 2020. The side will be facing the Delhi Capitals (DC) at Sheikh Zayed stadium today and Williamson is likely to play at the third spot.
