Earlier, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) revealed that they had sent a proposal to Indian Board in order to organize their T20 league at Island country amidst the Coronavirus outbreak but the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has denied saying that they have not received such a proposal yet.

Talks took place that the cricketing authorities are also looking for an international venue to organize the league, however, the league has got postponed amidst the lockdown in India until any further notice by the government.

The authorities are looking forward to an available window of September in case if the International Cricket Council  (ICC) cancels the T20 World Cup 2020.

Earlier, IPL was all set to be commenced by 29th March. The way Chinese virus spread across the globe, crossed the minds, and locked the activities and the scenarios have not got better till yet. Now, Sourav Ganguly has told the authorities to look for all possible measures to hold the cash-rich league in the year 2020.

Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian batsman, has opined to take IPL 2020 at Sri Lanka because India would be dropping with the cloud burst amidst the monsoon season in September.

He thinks Sri Lanka can be the possible option for organizing the league as they already have proposed India for giving them the hosting rights.

“In September, you can´t have the IPL in India due to monsoon,” said Gavaskar.

“But maybe (it can be held) in Sri Lanka from early September with teams playing each other once instead of double-headers. Maybe you can think of that,” said Sunil Gavaskar.
