Shoaib Akhtar has been the major part of the news after presenting his idea for an Indo-Pak bilateral series to raise the Coronavirus funds over which he has faced the heights or criticism from India.
Recently, in a video, Shoaib has opined that amid the Coronavirus outbreak, there could be lesser possibilities of Indian Premier League (IPL) and ICC T20 World Cup.
Coronavirus has stopped all the sports activities across the globe. IPL 2020 was all set to be played by 29th March but the worst health crisis shifted it to a new window of April-May. Later, an extension in the lockdown by the Indian Government has delayed the cash-rich league until any further notice.
However, ICC has planned the T20 World Cup for a window of October and also the IPL owners are thinking to shift IPL to a window of October that might clash the schedules of both the events.
Opined, for the sake of the one nation’s T20 league, the mega ICC event shall not be affected. Shoaib Akhtar does not think that both the events; ICC T20 World Cup and IPL will go ahead in 2020. There are chances that they might shift to the next year amid the Coronavirus outbreak.
“T20 World Cup, starting October 18 is likely to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I also feel that there will be no IPL this year due to the pandemic. But this break is the best time for the cricketers to work on their immune system and get back with the same intensity and vigor when the sporting action resumes,” Shoaib Akhtar said on IPL and ICC T20 World Cup possibilities during the live session on HELO app.
