Pakistani captain of all three formats, Babar Azam is all set to captain the Men in green for the first time in the home test matches.
Notably, Babar’s first task as the test captain will be upcoming Pakistan vs New Zealand test matches.
Recently, Babar was assigned his first task as an ODI captain as he led the team in a three-match series against Zimbabwe.
Pakistan and South Africa will play two test matches by the end of January that will be followed by a three-match T20I series.
Pak vs SA: Pakistan’s Babar Azam delighted to captain first home test
“I am delighted that South Africa have confirmed their tour to Pakistan and look forward to captaining my country for the first time in a home Test at a venue where we recently won our maiden Pakistan Super League title,” Babar said in a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
International Cricket is almost returned to Pakistan and 2021 is to host matches in bulk in the cricket-loving nation. Babar looks at this as an opportunity for learning and development seeking to enhance the rank in all three formats.
“Looking at the calendar of international cricket in 2021, I am pleased we are playing more against the sides which are ranked above us. This is critical to not only our learning and development but also an opportunity to improve our rankings across all formats,” he added.
