It was shocking to see the two whole unexpected playing XI of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the inaugural match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). On one hand, where MI were dominant by foreigners, CSK dropped Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir.
The Dad’s army cleared that they really are experienced as they clinched a five-wicket victory against MI despite missing some of their major players. The side chose Sam Curran as Dwayne’s replacement who did not fail to impress as he grabbed the opener, Quinton De Kock, when he was going pretty fine.
Bravo, who was last seen playing for TKR in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2020) will be missing a few more matches. In CPL’s last game, he did not bowl amidst his injury and for a similar reason, he has been dropped until completely healthy.
Did MS Dhoni take a sly dig at Raina and Harbhajan?
Stephen Fleming, the head coach of the franchise has confirmed his unavailability in the post-match conference.
CSK will not have Dwayne Bravo for a few matches
“Dwayne Bravo is out for a couple of games,” Fleming was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.
The former New Zealand cricketer and the current coach of CSK, was also spotted praising Curran was playing for the side for the first time. “Curran’s performance was terrific,”. He made his IPL debut back in 2019 for Kings XI Punjab and has been auctioned by Dhoni’s side in the thirteenth season.
The side will play their second game of the cash-rich league’s 2020 season on 22nd September. They are scheduled to play the game against Rajasthan Royals at Sharjah Stadium. You can check the rest of the schedule for the Dad’s army on TheSportsMag.
